They were led by Rovman Powell’s exciting innings of 64, which featured in a 100-run partnership with Kennar Lewis (33) to set a challenging target for the home side.Glen Phillips (17) and Johnson Charles (34) scored at a high strike rate to get the Tallawahs started before the former was dismissed. After hitting five fours and a maximum in 23 balls, Charles held out to Fletcher off a Qais Ahmad-delivery and Tallawahs were 56-2.Lewis scored at a run-a-ball up until his dismissal to give Kesrick Williams his second wicket. Williams then added Andre Russell’s (5) wicket to his collection, which started with Phillips. The Jamaicans were not out of fire power yet, as the runs continued to flow with the arrival of David Miller who had a disappointing show in the final over against the Tridents in the previous match. He slammed three sixes and two fours in his 13-ball 32.Even though Powell didn’t last to the end, his contribution of five sixes and two boundaries from 37 balls had already sustained the pace toward a terrific total to defend.Williams had 3 – 34 while Ahmad and Obed McCoy claimed a wicket each.In reply, Stars got off to a shaky start losing opener Mark Chapman (4) and Rahkeem Cornwall (2) quite quickly. Andre Fletcher (21) was the next to fall with the score on 52 while the experienced David Warner went hard at the Tallawahs’ attack scoring 42 from 26, stitched up with five fours and a six.Up to press time, the Stars need 98 from 45 balls with the skipper Kieron Pollard in the middle on 20 along with Ross Taylor (4).
