Rain puts halt on Guyana NRA 150th Shoot

first_img-three Guyanese into the final roundTHREE Guyanese are into the final round of the Guyana National Rifle Association (NRA) 150th Anniversary shoot after yesterday’s rivalry at the Timehri Rifle ranges.However, rain put a damper on the final two ranges, the 900 and 1000.At the end of the three ranges, Jack Alexander of Ireland leads with 103 point and 12 V’s, as he beat out Andrew Paul William Daw of England on a countback.Local rifleman Lennox Brathwaite with 103 points and 7V’s picked up third place after a countback with the Falkland Islands’ Trevor James Bryan and Alexander Gill of Ireland, both scoring the same.The other Guyanese in the shoot is Fullbore Captain Mahendra Persaud with 100 and 4V’s and vice-Captain Dylan Fields 99 and 6V’s At the 300 yard ranges, Brathwaithe posted a 34 and 5V’s with Alexander scoring a 35 and 4V’s, with Persaud shooting a 33 and 2 Vs and Fields marking a 33 and 1 V.At the 500 range, it was again Jack with a 35 and 5 V’s with Brathwaithe again hot on his tail with a 35 and 3 V’s. Persaud shot a 34 with 1V with Fields marking a 33 and 3 VsAt the 600, Alexander dropped two points off a possible 35 to post a 33 with 3 V’s with Brathwaithe hitting a 34 and 1 V to close off the day.Shortly after lunch, the heavens opened up and it was the end of the day’s proceedings.Today will be the  meeting of the West Indies FullBore Council with shooting resuming  on Saturday with the Milex Cup. Following the conclusion of that cup, the Guyana NRA 150th Shoot will conclude.last_img
